“Action is the foundational key to all success.” – Pablo Picasso
Kayon enrolled in the Focus 360 Job Club seeking increased work hours and greater employment stability. Before relocating to California, she lived in New York, where she gained valuable experience as a Direct Support Professional, providing compassionate care and supporting individuals with daily living needs. After moving to California in 2015, she continued her caregiving career, becoming an IHSS Caregiver in 2018.

While committed to her role, the limited hours available through IHSS made it difficult for Kayon to achieve the financial stability she was working toward. She knew she needed an opportunity that better matched both her experience and her goals.
Through Focus 360, Kayon worked closely with her facilitator to explore caregiving positions that offered increased hours and consistent schedules. She updated her resume to clearly reflect her extensive background in direct care, strengthened her job search strategies, and prepared for interviews with home care agencies. Throughout the process, Kayon remained motivated, engaged in workshops, and participated in employer recruitment opportunities.
That preparation led to success. Kayon secured employment with Senior Helpers as a Caregiver, earning $18 per hour. The position provides increased hours and a more reliable schedule, allowing her to better support herself while
continuing to do meaningful work in a field she values.
Kayon’s journey highlights how targeted guidance, resume development, and thoughtful job matching can turn experience into opportunity. With stability gained and momentum established, she is moving forward with confidence and purpose.
