Melissa entered Focus 360 with a strong work ethic and an unconventional professional background. Most of her experience had been in the entertainment industry, including touring as a backup dancer for Lizzo. While the work required discipline and stamina, Melissa found it challenging to translate her creative experience into a traditional full-time role.

Although motivated to work, Melissa struggled to communicate her skills in a way employers understood. After multiple unsuccessful interviews, she applied for public assistance and was referred to Focus 360. At that point, uncertainty had begun to impact her confidence.
Once enrolled, Melissa quickly re-engaged. After an early conversation about professionalism and accountability, she committed to treating the program like a job. She participated actively in workshops, led group presentations, and stayed after class to complete assignments and seek feedback.
Through one-on-one support, her facilitator helped her reframe her experience in clear, professional terms. With focused interview practice and refined responses, she learned how to present her background with intention and clarity.
That preparation paid off quickly. By the end of her first week in Focus 360, Melissa was hired after her first interview. She began working as a Production and Office Assistant with a production company in December.
