When Rogel joined the Downtown Focus 360 program in March 2025, he knew something had to change. A father of two small children, Rogel was navigating the job search alone while juggling serious challenges, including childcare needs, a criminal background, and the looming risk of losing his housing.
Determined to secure a better future for his family, Rogel committed to the Focus 360 program. With the support of his facilitator, he not only built a solid job search plan but also gained two employment offers by the end of the course. Though both jobs were set to begin after the program, Rogel didn’t wait around; he used that transition time to strengthen his credentials.
In April, he completed LACOE’s Security Officer Training, earning his 40-hour BSIS certification for a California Guard Card. This additional step demonstrated his dedication to long-term stability and career growth.
The positive changes Rogel made during Focus 360 extended beyond the workplace. The program helped him rebuild communication and trust in his personal life, rekindling his relationship with his wife. The repaired foundation provided him with the family support he needed to move forward with confidence.
As of May 22nd, Rogel has been working full-time as a Crew Member with the Coalition for Responsible Community Development (CRCD), earning $18 per hour plus benefits. He loves the work and is proud to be building a future for his family, one brick at a time.
